Mindfulness-Based Interventions for Youth to Manage the Pressures and Stressors of Life
Are the youth you work with—engaging in negative coping skills, scheduled 24/7, feeling burned out, stressed, immersed in social media, and the like? Then this training is for you. Help youth manage their stress with mindfulness and ways to combat the negative by taking in the good. The effects of stress on teens' health and well-being today are enormous. Stress does not discriminate. Stress is impinging on ALL youth regardless of race, sex or class! Fact: 1 in 5 youth 13-18 years of age have or will have a serious mental illness. Now that we recognize the problem, lets discuss helping youth overcome and manage their stressors. To make it through these complex years, youth need a strong inner guide, the survival gear and compass, to well-being. In this training, you'll discover the evidence‐based protocol that combines mindfulness and positive neuroplasticity. With a three-prong guide to mindful well-being—1. self-care, 2. taking in the good, and 3. resourcing yourself for hard times you can help youth navigate stress facing their lives today. With practical tools, you can provide them with the survival gear and compass to personal health, growth and well-being.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will learn recent advances in neuroscience and positive neuroplasticity to help youth harness skills needed for mental and physical health.
Participants will learn ways to enhance youth well-being—to help them attend to and take in beneficial experiences and to create lasting resources to manage emotional and physical pains.
Attendees will gain access to practical resources to help youth utilize the four levels of self-care.
Attendees will report that the training positively impacted them to teach youth to manage difficult stressors and emotions with positive coping skills.
